Jimson Capacitors of this MKP type are yellow. Set the multimeter to read in the high ohms region, between 10k and 1m ohms, to test the capacitor. Connect the meter leads—red to positive and black to negative—to the capacitor’s corresponding leads. The meter should begin at zero and gradually increase to infinity.

The high-frequency interference signals produced when using electrical or electronic equipment are reduced to a permitted level by interference suppression capacitors, also referred to as radio interference suppression capacitors. They safeguard devices by reducing brief line-side overvoltages (transients).

 If a run capacitor fails, the motor can display a variety of problems including not starting, overheating, and vibrating. A bad run capacitor deprives the motor of the full voltage it needs to operate correctly.
