Radio Suppression Capacitor

The radio suppression capacitor serves as a soundproofing device by reducing engine noise inside the car. However, occasionally the wire in the capacitor corrodes and is unable to reduce engine noise. Furthermore, a slack wire might burst fuses or even a battery.

Product Description

The radio suppression capacitor serves as a soundproofing device by reducing engine noise inside the car. However, occasionally the wire in the capacitor corrodes and is unable to reduce engine noise. Furthermore, a slack wire might burst fuses or even a battery.

Set the multimeter to read in the high ohms region, between 10k and 1m ohms, to test the radio suppression capacitor. Connect the meter leads—red to positive and black to negative—to the capacitor’s corresponding leads. The meter should begin at zero and gradually increase to infinity.

The high-frequency interference signals produced when using electrical or electronic equipment are reduced to a permitted level by interference radio suppression capacitor, also referred to as radio interference suppression capacitors. They safeguard devices by reducing brief line-side overvoltages (transients).

Feature of  radio suppression capacitor

1.High stability of capacitance and DF versus wide temperature and frequency range
2.High transient endurance and high dielectric strength
3.Real long-term stability
4.Withstanding high voltage strength

The snubber capacitors acts as a low-pass filter in a circuit, absorbing the peak voltage. Usually used in insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT), to eliminate the spike voltage caused by the stray inductance of the bus, to avoid the damage of insulated gate bipolar transistors.

What is a buffer capacitor?

The buffer capacitor is a capacitor connected to the high current switch node to reduce the parasitic inductance of the electrical wiring. Parasitic inductance will cause large surge when the switch is turned off (cutting off the current). When the surge exceeds the rated value of components, it may even cause product damage.

To effectively reduce the wiring inductance, the component pins in the circuit close to the red ellipse of the circuit diagram should be connected to the capacitors.

Capacitance characteristics:

Single metal buffer capacitor and bimetal buffer capacitor are available.

Capacitor application:

  1. in power electronics applications, buffer capacitors are responsible for reducing electromagnetic interference by clamping voltage and current ringing.
  2. in order to reduce stray inductance, the buffer is installed on the IGBT module, and a buffer capacitor is provided in the configurable terminal to achieve versatility
